Exporting your plan and history

Your figures are yours, and getting them out is not a support request. Backup and data gives you the whole account as a file, and takes one back.

Before you start

The export covers the whole account rather than the scope you are currently viewing. Business records come out alongside personal ones.

Steps

1

Open Settings, then Backup & data

Three actions sit there: Save a backup, Export as JSON, and Restore from a backup.

2

Choose Export as JSON

One file with the whole account in it: accounts and balances, recurring income and expenses, subscriptions, paydays and their rows, goals, debts and net-worth snapshots.

JSON rather than a spreadsheet, because a plan is nested and a spreadsheet would have to flatten it into something that no longer reassembles.
3

Save the file

It downloads straight to your machine. Nothing is emailed and nothing is left on a server for collection.

Restoring from a backup

Restore from a backup is on the same screen, and it reads a file the app wrote. That is the round trip: a backup you saved can be put back.

It is a restore rather than a merge. The balances in the file were true on the day it was written, so after restoring an older one, confirm your balances before trusting a figure.

What to use it for

Keeping your own copy, moving between accounts, and having something to hand back if anything goes wrong. Take one before deleting your account, because after that we cannot retrieve it for you.
