Delete Account & Data

How to erase your Cashrou data from the app, what deleting your account removes, and how to cancel the subscription that goes with it.

01

Deleting your account, from inside the app

This is a delete, not a request. It happens while you wait, and it cannot be undone. If you want to keep a copy of anything, save a backup first: Settings, then Backup & data, then Save a backup.

01 Open Settings Open Cashrou and go to the Settings tab.
02 Tap Delete account & data It is the last row in the section with Support and the legal documents. The same screen is also behind Settings, then Your data, then Delete my account.
03 Read the two panels, then type DELETE The first panel lists what goes. The second says what happens to your subscription, which is the part people are caught by: see below. Typing the word is the confirmation, so nothing here can be deleted by a mistaken tap.
04 Tap Delete my account and all my data Your account and every record held against it are deleted, on this iPhone, on the web and on every other device signed in to it. You are signed out and returned to the start.
02

Your subscription is separate, and this is the part that costs money

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription billed by Apple or by Google Play, and we cannot cancel one for you. Apple and Google keep charging until you cancel it yourself, in your App Store subscriptions or your Google Play subscriptions. Cancel it there first, then come back and delete the account. A subscription billed by Cashrou on the web is cancelled for you before the account is deleted, so you are not charged again.

03

Erasing your data but keeping your account

If you want to start over rather than leave, erase instead of deleting. Open Cashrou, go to the Settings tab, tap Backup & data, tap Erase all data, and confirm.

This clears your Cashrou records from the account, on every device signed in to it, and puts you back at the beginning of setup. Your account, your email address and your subscription are untouched.

04

What erasing removes

Profile and onboarding information.
Accounts, balances and net-worth snapshots.
Transactions you recorded, and transfers between your accounts.
Categories, subcategories and budgets.
Income, bills, pay schedules, allocations and payment status.
Debt, goals, subscriptions, business entries and recurring cash-flow items.
Preferences and language settings.
05

What deleting the account removes

Everything above, plus the account itself: your name, your email address, your birthday if you entered one, your settings and every record held against you. The privacy policy sets out what is stored and who processes it.

Two things are kept on purpose, and neither is your address: a one way scramble of it, so that closing the account and opening a new one cannot claim the free week or an invite month a second time. It cannot be turned back into your address and it is used for nothing else.

06

Deleting the app

Deleting Cashrou from a device removes the copy held on that device and nothing else. It does not delete your account or the records in it, because those are what your other devices and the web app sign in to.

07

If you cannot reach the screen

You have to be signed in on the device to delete the account from it, because that is what proves the account is yours. If you cannot sign in, email us from the address you signed up with and we will delete it within 30 days.

Support communications

Anything you sent us separately by email lives in our inbox rather than inside the app, so neither erasing nor deleting removes it. Ask in the same email and we will delete that too.
