What happens to my data if I delete my account

Deleting removes your account and every record attached to it, in one action, with no support ticket and no waiting period. This is what goes, and what has to be done separately.

Before you start

Deleting cannot be undone. If you only want to stop paying, cancel the subscription instead and the plan stays where it is.

Steps

1

Cancel the subscription first

A subscription bought through Apple is managed by Apple and does not stop because the account it was used with is gone. Cancel it in iPhone Settings, or in the billing portal for a web subscription, before deleting.

This is the one step people miss, and it is the reason a deleted account can still produce a charge.
2

Open Settings, then Delete account

Cashrou states plainly what is about to be removed and asks you to confirm.

3

Confirm

Your profile, accounts, balances, bills, income, paydays, goals, debts, net-worth history and settings are removed together. There is no soft delete and no thirty-day holding period.

What is left afterwards

Records we are required to keep, and nothing else: the payment processor's own record of a transaction is theirs and is governed by their retention rules, not ours.

Backups roll off on their own schedule, so a copy may persist in an encrypted backup for a short period before it expires. It is not readable by us in the ordinary course and it is not restored to anything.

Take a copy first

If there is any chance you will want the history later, export it before deleting. Once the account is gone we cannot retrieve it for you, because that is the point.
