Setting up reminders before payday

A reminder before payday is what turns the routine from something you mean to do into something you have done. Cashrou can send three, and all of them start off.

Before you start

Reminders are delivered by your iPhone, so they are switched on there. Everything is off until you allow them.

Steps

1

Open Settings, then Reminders

It sits under Notifications & security. The screen lists every reminder Cashrou can send and the state each one is in.

2

Allow reminders

One switch at the top, which is the permission your phone needs before any of the rest can fire.

3

Pick which ones you want

Payday, the bills you pay manually, and a monthly nudge to confirm your balances. Turn on as few as you will actually act on.

Bills on autopay are never chased, since there is nothing for you to do about them. A reminder about something that happens by itself trains you to ignore reminders.

The three reminders

Payday follows your real pay dates, so a biweekly cycle keeps moving through the calendar and the reminder moves with it.

Bills you pay manually covers the list of things you actually have to go and do, and nothing that leaves by itself.

Confirm balances arrives once a month, on the 1st, which is the step every other figure is built on.

The trial email

Separately from these, Cashrou emails you before the seven free days end, so the first charge is never a surprise. That is an email rather than a phone reminder, and it does not need permission.
